This test evaluates an administrator's knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) through Windows Server 2016. It includes use of Azure AD. The Secure Evaluation Mode and Remote versions of this test will contain a minimum of 42 questions and will require a typical time of 50 minutes.

The Secure Interview Mode and QwikChek versions will provide as many questions as the test taker can answer within an approximate 31 minute time limit.

Following is a description of each sub-topic on the test:

Object Administration measures knowledge of object creation and management in Active Directory (Windows Server 2016).

Maintenance and Optimization assesses knowledge of methods to monitor and improve Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) health, directory optimization, and performance.

Group Policy tests how to plan and implement a Group Policy strategy in Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) to manage users and computers in the enterprise. Also covers how to deploy and manage software by using Group Policy and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).

Managing Users, Computers, and Groups determines understanding of account management using Active Directory (Windows Server 2016).

Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery evaluates knowledge of backup and restore processes, authoritative restore, and disaster planning in Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) environments.

Domain Security tests knowledge of Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) domain security including validation and read-only domain controllers.

DNS Administration evaluates knowledge of domain name system (DNS) administration in respect to the enterprise, including Active Directory (Windows Server 2016)-integrated deployments, SRV records, and FQDN.

Topology and Structure measures knowledge and ability to create Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) forests, trees, and domains, and to work with the schema.

Installation and Migration tests knowledge of Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) design, as well as planning, installation, and migration processes. This covers Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO) role placement, design, domain controller placement, Global Catalog placement, site structure, and administration models.

Sites, Subnets, and Replication measures the ability to manage Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) site and virtual domain controller replication. This covers creating, configuring, and managing sites and subnets, monitoring and troubleshooting replication failures, and planning a replication strategy.

PKI and Certificate Services determines knowledge of planning, deployment, and maintenance of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services and Windows Certificate Services in an Active Directory (Windows Server 2016) environment.

Rights Management and Access Management assesses knowledge of AD RMS, as well as identity and access management using Dynamic Access Control (DAC) in Active Directory (Windows Server 2016).

Active Directory Federation Services evaluates knowledge of features, planning, deployment, and maintenance of AD FS. Also covers Device Registration Service (DRS) and Workplace Joins in Active Directory (Windows Server 2016).

Cloud Directory Services tests knowledge of options available to authenticate in the cloud, including Azure Active Directory and hybrid solutions using Windows Server 2016.
