APACHE CASSANDRA

This test measures the Big Data Professional's experience with utilizing the Apache Cassandra distributed database management system to manage large data sets across multiple servers.

It includes topics  as : Scalability, NoSQL, integration with Apache Hadoop and the Cassandra Query Language (CQL).

The Secure Evaluation Mode and Remote versions of this test will contain a minimum of 36 questions and will require a typical time of 43 minutes.

The Secure Interview Mode and QwikChek versions will provide as many questions as the test taker can answer within an approximate 26 minute time limit.

The CoreChek version will contain 27 questions and will require a typical time of 32 minutes.

Following is a description of each sub-topic on the test:

NoSQL Concepts measures understanding of NoSQL fundamentals and how NoSQL databases differ from relational databases.

CQL 3 tests knowledge of Cassandra Query Language (CQL) and commands for use in the CQL shell (cqlsh) and command line interfaces to communication with the Cassandra database.

Cassandra API tests knowledge of using Cassandra via its client API.

Cassandra Cluster Architecture demonstrates an understanding of multi-node Cassandra setups and configuration issues, used for peer-to-peer configurations.

Cassandra Deployment tests knowledge of different deployment strategies, selecting and implementing proper hardware for use with Cassandra and cloud-based Cassandra setups.

Cassandra Single-Node Architecture measures understanding of the underlying data structures and read and write procedures in Cassandra.

Consistency in Cassandra evaluates understanding of consistency levels, options and concerns for keeping data synchronized and up-to-date in Cassandra.

Data Modeling tests ability to represent real-world data situations in the best way for Cassandra performance, scalability and reliability.

Hadoop and Spark Integration with Cassandra measures knowledge of using Cassandra with Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark to perform MapReduce and streaming jobs with Cassandra as both the source and sink of data.

Performance Monitoring Strategies measures understanding and application of database monitoring tools, metrics and techniques for diagnosing and correcting performance issues in Cassandra.

Pig and Hive Integration with Cassandra evaluates knowledge of integrating Apache Pig and Apache Hive with Cassandra and both loading and querying data via the aforementioned technologies.

Replication and Disaster Recovery assesses knowledge of replication strategies, multi-location clusters and disaster recovery for Cassandra.
